Coach Leon “Taz” Ramirez and the 2007 SA Athletic FC Boys – Director’s Cup Tournament 2019

 In News / Events

This weekend, our SA Athletic FC 2007 boy’s team is heading to the Director’s Cup lead by Coach Leon “Taz” Ramirez.  As a former player and current coach, the SAAFC family is honored to have him coaching our boys!  He is dedicated and committed to the overall development of each player as well as fulfilling the club’s mission by demonstrating excellence and providing the best experience for every family.  As a former graduate and former player of the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Coach “Taz” highly supports the importance and value of academics and education for all young athletes today. Let’s all get to know Coach “Taz” and some of his beliefs and what he looks to achieve within the club:

Goal/Mission in coaching:  “I strive to see the players develop positively on and off the field.  The principles I wish to teach them are, but not limited to, the importance of family, hard work, dedication, perseverance, commitment, and positivity.  In my opinion, these principles can be applied to many facets of life, not just soccer.  I want my players to be great players and most importantly, great people.”

What I would like to achieve with SA Athletic FC:  “I would like to see the players develop to a higher level so they can continue their progression in the soccer world.  I want them to have an opportunity to play at the highest level possible and have the abilities to do so.  If they can play professionally that would be fantastic.  If they can play in college and obtain an education simultaneously that would be phenomenal.  Ultimately, I would really like to see the players develop both on and off the field in the most positive manner.”

A belief I would like to pass to the players: “Whatever you do in life, continue to work harder and smarter. In soccer, even Messi and Cristiano work extremely hard every day and they are regarded as the best players of our time. Their trophies, goals, and world perception has not slowed them down. One day when you all have families, continue to work hard for them and give them your all. Continue to keep an open mind and willing to learn new things. This concept can also be applied on and off the field.  So…continue to work harder and smarter.”

At SAAFC we are all excited to see the 2007 SA Athletic FC boy’s team in action this upcoming weekend. The team is kicking off the Director’s Cup at 11:15 AM (CT) on Saturday, April 24 in Leander, TX.

Thank you to all the families and good luck to everyone!

Lubo Kocic
